Casa Nunda is a 4 bedroom townhouse situated in the beautiful, traditional Andalucian hillside village of Lucar.

In the heart of 'Real Spain', where the English tongue is rarely heard, Casa Nunda offers an ideal retreat for discerning travellers who prefer a sedate, relaxed pace of life away from the coastal resorts.

The house is in a quiet location, on the outskirts of Lucar, yet only a few minutes walk from the village bars/cafes and shops. It is managed by an Spanish-speaking English couple who live locally.

A car is essential to maximise your enjoyment of the area. Lucar is just over an hour's easy drive from Granada, Lorca, Almeria, the Sierra Nevada and the Costa Calida. In under an hour you can be in Tijola, Baza, Huercal-Overa, Velez-Rubio, Vera or at the beach in Garrucha.

The house comprises two double bedrooms (one with en-suite shower) and two twin bedrooms. There is a family bathroom and a downstairs cloakroom. A fully fitted kitchen with fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, oven and hob, tumble-drier and a spacious lounge/diner with satellite TV and hi-fi complete the accommodation.

The private 9 metre x 3.5 metre swimming pool is cleaned and maintained regularly. A large inflatable paddling pool (with pump!) is available for toddlers.

The large garden receives sunshine all day and offers stunning views over the Almanzora valley. There is a barbecue and patio furniture for sunbathing and outdoors dining for up to eight people.
Lucar has several bars/cafes, shops, a bank, communal swimming pool (open July and August) and a market on Fridays. In the neighboring village of Cela, there are other dining possibilities and a naturally heated pool with a constant temperature of 24 degrees, ideal for year-round swimming.

Large supermarkets, restaurants and a variety of shops are located in the larger villages and small towns within easy reach of Lucar.

Getting away from the village is easy, the main road from Huercal-Overa to Baza runs along the valley and within 40 kilometres in either direction you may join the motorways to Granada, Murcia or Almeria. The cultural delights of Granada are world famous, the Alhambra palace is thought by many to be the most beautiful piece of architecture in Spain. Almeria's port and beaches are surrounded by many seafood restaurants and the blue Mediterranean sea.

Before reaching Almeria, you could turn off the motorway and enjoy the beaches, tourism and nightlife of Mojacar or Garrucha, reassured by the knowledge that you can return to the peace and quiet of Lucar if it all gets too hectic at the Costa. Also, located in Europe's only desert at Tabernas, just off the Almeria motorway, is "Mini Hollywood" the shooting location of "Lawrence of Arabia" and Clint Eastwood's famous "spaghetti western" movies, now a themed visitor park.

Head north of Baza and there are lush valleys surrounding many lakes. It's not difficult to track down water sports or fishing.

If you don't feel like driving for a while, just put on a pair of light walking shoes and head out into the hills from Lucar. It would be easy to spend a whole 2 weeks just exploring the gentle hills at the foot of the Sierra Estancias which make the fabulous views in all directions from Casa Nunda. Go a little farther afield and there are challenging walks and scrambles to be found in the Sierra Nevada range, also famous for year round skiing. There is also a local Riding School and a Golf Course under construction.

Getting there... Almeria airport is around 1.5 hours drive, Murcia (San Javier) around 2 hours and Alicante and Malaga about 2.5 hours. The roads between Lucar and the airports are mainly toll-free motorways with excellent signposting. You may choose to catch the ferry to Santander or Bilbao - six and a half hours' drive away - and possibly stay a night in Madrid on the way. The route from Northern France via Le Mans, Poitiers, Bordeaux and Biarritz is another option for those who enjoy continental motoring.
